PD Dr. habil. Fiorella BATTAGLIA (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich, LMU)
studied philosophy at the University of Pisa (Italy). She received her doctoral degree in
philosophy and politics from the University of Naples “L'Orientale” (Italy). She
completed her habilitation in practical philosophy and received her venia legendi from
the LMU. Currently she is research fellow at the Biorobotics Institute of the Sant’Anna
School of Advanced Studies of Pisa. Her area of specialization is at intersection of
normative and applied ethics. She is particularly interested in the ethics of robotics and
artificial intelligence, and the philosophy of technology with respect to policy making.
Her area of competence is the relationship between culture, society, and scientific and
technological changes. As she emphasizes in her work, understanding of the interplay
between cultural dynamics and the social, technical, economical, and political conditions
is crucial in order to improve governance.
