Luca Barbi is the General Partner and COO of STV, one of the largest technology venture
capital fund in the Middle East. With over $500 million in deployable capital, STV backs and
scales the region’s most exciting and disruptive technology companies.
Mr. Barbi has over 12 years’ experience in management consulting and transaction advisory
services, advising organizations across Europe and the Middle East on a range of sectors
including consumer goods, technology, and travel and tourism.
Prior to joining STV, Mr. Barbi was a core member of the Corporate Development and
Consumer Goods practices at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where he gained extensive
experience in investment strategy, business due diligence, organization & governance and
value creation planning.
As Project Leader and Principal at BCG’s Middle East headquarters, Mr. Barbi was
instrumental in developing strategies and business plans for new digital players and
eCommerce platforms in the region. He also led the investment strategy and overall portfolio
performance assessment for a major Sovereign Wealth Fund, resulting in a strengthened
operating model and investment architecture.
Before joining BCG, he worked for 2 years in the Transaction Service division of PWC
mainly assisting Private Equity investors with Business and Financial due diligence projects.
Mr. Barbi holds an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York, a master’s in
Merchant Banking from LIUC University in Italy and a BA in Finance and Economics from
Bologna University in Italy.
